Monthly Analysis
Month × Year heatmap
How to read the heatmap
Every cell is one calendar month: green if Bitcoin closed the month above where it opened, red if below. The stronger the colour, the bigger the move (colours stop getting stronger at ±35%).
- Read across a row to see how one year unfolded. The Year column is the whole year's change.
- Read down a column to see how the same month behaved in every year. The bottom rows summarise it: the median change (the typical month, not thrown off by a few huge ones), the share of years that closed up, and how many years that is based on (n).
- Click a month name (or any cell) to open that month's full profile.
- The dashed cell is the month still in progress. It is left out of the summary rows.
Example: If the March column is mostly green with a median of +9% and 'up in 70% of years', March has usually been a good month. If it shows +1% and 50%, March is a coin flip.
